My name is Wilco Nieuwenhuis. I specialise in employment law and public service law, focusing on government, education and healthcare. The introduction of the Public Servants (Standardisation of Legal Status) Act means I am now able to combine these two areas of expertise. I mainly work for municipalities and educational institutions. However, I also frequently act on behalf provincial authorities, healthcare institutions and businesses.
I advise and litigate on a wide range of employment law matters such as dismissal, illness and rehabilitation, reorganisations and employee participation. I am also familiar with social insurance law (sickness benefits, capacity for work and unemployment benefits). I have a special interest in matters involving sickness and incapacity for work and I regularly conduct objection and appeal proceedings against the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV).
I frequently give courses on employment law, for example through the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG), which receive high ratings. Participants value my plain language, the ample opportunity they have for asking questions and my succinct answers to them.
My clients know me to be an open, welcoming and committed adviser. Based on a thorough analysis, I work with them to find solutions. I have both feet firmly on the ground and am clear about what is and is not possible. I avoid unnecessary fuss.
Our website makes it clear that my colleagues and I have a firm grasp of issues at play in the public sector, education and healthcare. We share our expertise regularly in blogs as well as in on- and offline seminars, newsletters and at live events.
Feel free to contact me if you’re curious to know how I can be of service to you.
